Lidocaine and Prilocaine Cream, as a compound amide-type local anesthetic, provides dermal anesthesia by releasing lidocaine and prilocaine from the cream matrix into the epidermis and dermis, as well as to nearby pain receptors and nerve endings. Both agents stabilize the neuronal membrane by inhibiting the ion transport required for the generation and transmission of impulses, thereby achieving local anesthesia.
This product is indicated for local anesthesia of the skin in the following situations:
Needle puncture, e.g., insertion of catheters or blood sampling.
Superficial surgical procedures, e.g., prior to superficial surgical procedures or infiltration anesthesia on genital mucosa; cleaning/debridement of leg ulcers.
